Nila Hunter

“Nila June Hunter was born on July 17, 1933 in Canadian, Tx. She married Royce Hunter on Feb. 24, 1962 in Amarillo. They moved to Lubbock in 1963 and Nila received her Associate’s degree from LCU and her RN license from the Methodist School of Nursing. She worked as a school nurse in Hockley County. Upon the birth of her twin grandsons, Nila retired to be available to move and assist with their care. She was a longtime member of Broadway and Sunset Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Tom and Jack Pendergraft.
Nila is survived by her husband, Royce; two daughters, Merle Lynn “Missy” Hunter of Smyrna, TN and Lisa (Steve) Schaeper of Lafayette, IN; two grandsons, Nathan and Justin Schaeper of Lafayette, IN; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Marcia Pendergraft of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of your choice in honor of Nila.
Services will be in Henderson, TN later this week.”
