Dr. Earle Cale Davis, age 80, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Covenant Medical Center surrounded by his beloved family. Dr. Davis was a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the age of nine. Over the years he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon in several churches. Earle Cale Davis, was born on November 2, 1935 in Brownfield, Texas, the son of Earle Cale Davis, Sr. and Abigail Hazel Tuttle Davis. He married Shelby Ann Thompson on June 3, 1957 in Brownfield, Texas. Dr. Davis is survived by his wife, Shelby Ann Davis of Lubbock, Texas; daughters Dannie Mason and Kellie (Greg) Hill, son Doug (Melinda) Davis, and daughter Terrie (Steve) Gressett; granddaughters Hillarie (Donald) Smith, Lindsay (Kyle) Black, Whitney (Darin) Bynum, Paige (Jeris) Queen, SSG Chase (Stephanie) Hill, Tate Hill, Blaine Hill, Jacob (Summer) Burkholder, Daniel (Karem) Burkholder, Sherman (Rachel) Gressett, Berkleigh Gressett, and Jensen Gressett; great-grandchildren Mason, Haden, and Rylan Smith, Keaton and Kelbie Black, Parker, Tessa, and Weston Bynum, Callaway and McLain Davis Queen, and Madison Miller and Ryker Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Abigail Davis, two sisters, Alice Joyce Davis, Janet Lewis, and a grandson Spencer Gressett. Dr. Davis received a B.S. in Psychology from Baylor University, Masters and Doctorate degrees in Physics from Texas Tech University. He began his career working for NASA and continued on at the Hanford Atomic Energy Project, Florida Power and Light nuclear power plant, Texas Instruments, Amarillo College, and Texas Tech University where taught in multiple areas. He retired in 1997 and they returned to Lubbock in 1998. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Bacon Heights Baptist Church, 5110 54th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79414.
