DeAnna was born in Memphis, Tennessee on Nov. 28, 1953. She lived her primary years in Imperial Beach, California and moved to Lubbock in 1966. She graduated from Monterey High School in 1971 and Texas Tech University in 1974. She married Dr. David R. Gibson on March 15, 1975.
DeAnna had a passion for numbers. She taught math for a few years, and loved tutoring high school and college students in her home while raising her 2 sons. The last 14 years she was the bookkeeper for Drs. Armistead, Moore and Gibson.
DeAnna and her husband are charter members of LakeRidge United Methodist Church and have been active in the music department. DeAnna sang in the choir and played handbells for the last 25 years. DeAnna was active in NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Lubbock and also delivered Meals on Wheels.
DeAnna was preceded in death by her younger sister, Lou Ann. Her survivors include her husband David, sons Andy and Bryan, and his wife Courtney, mother Cherry Myers, sister Sue Ann Hansford, and nephew Seth Hansford, all of Lubbock, father Lee Myers of South Carolina and father-in-law Paul Haas of Dallas.
