Wesley Shelton Shivers was born in Vernon, Texas Nov.7th, 1923, lived his Christ filled life showing his love for family and friends. As a teenager and the 5th of seven children; he worked the crops and tuned engines to spin props to help support his family. On Dec 9, 1942 he joined the Marine Corps becoming a Staff Sergeant, sending half his pay home to support mom. At the close of WWII married civilian life as a truck driver and service station owner bore him 4 children 13 grand children and 11 great grand children. Diabetes forced him into early retirement but not from life. Endless humor, service to his church and those in need was combined with his love for adventure in an RV. He was preceded in death by wife Mary Pauline who bore his children, and by wife of 3 years Eddie Jean. He leaves his wife of 17 years; Alice with the memories of his selfless living and the love and example he shared with all who regarded him as Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, brother and friend. He died peacefully in his sleep July 11, 2010 in Lubbock, Texas and we will celebrate his life at Lake Ridge Memorial Chapel in Lubbock.
