Bert A. Bryant, beloved husband, father and grandfather went home to his Lord on Sat., July 3, 2010. Bert was born March 6, 1918, in O’Donnell to the late Mary Magdelene and Joseph L. Bryant. He was the last living member of his birth family of four brothers and three sisters. He attended school in the community of O’Donnell. He was a very diligent man of intelligence in the field of cotton seed delinting, cotton breeding, ranching and farming. He developed several varieties of cottonseed that were sold under his certification program with Ranger Seed Company. He owned and operated Bryant Seed & Delinting, Inc. and was co-owner of Ranger Seed Company until his health changed. He worked in the oil field, and farmed until he purchased the Delinting plant in Tahoka, of which he ran over thirty years. He had a passion for ranching, cows, horses, nature and just being a cowboy. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and had a passion for Him and his church and enjoyed being in special prayer times. Bert married Vonda Richie in 1937. Later, he met and married his wife Virgie Kirby on Oct. 4, 1975 in Lubbock. Bert is survived by his wife, Virgie; two children, Wanda Smith and husband John of Tahoka, and G. Lynn Bryant and wife Marion of Midland; four step-children, Suzanne Miller and husband Bill of The Colony, Gary Kirby and wife Sheila of Lubbock, Patty Kirby of Austin and Tammey Campbell of Fairview, NC; four grandchildren, and seven step-grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. One step-granddaughter, Shelia Miller, preceded him in death in March, 1986.
