James was born March 5, 1927 in Shamrock to James and Esther (Grubbs) Fergerson. James graduated from Shamrock High School and Texas Tech University. He married Victoria Howell Dec. 22, 1954 in Post. He worked for the Lubbock Police Department from Nov. 16, 1950 until retiring on Feb. 29, 2004. James was a past Master of the Lubbock Mackinzie Lodge.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children, James Fergerson and friend Sheila Tidrow and Joe Fergerson and wife Cheryl all of Lubbock and Linda Boudreaux and husband Robert of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Fern Bradley and husband John of Springtown; two brothers, Roy Fergerson of St. Jo, AK and Albert Fergerson of Abernathy.
James was preceded by his parents, wife, and a sister, Ima Jean Hall.
