Obituary:
Janet Hambright Humphries was born in Roanoke, Texas and moved to Lubbock in 1930. She was a student of Lubbock Public Schools and Texas Tech University. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, and a LaVentana beauty queen. She married Harold Humphries in 1938 while they were both students at Texas Tech and celebrated their 72nd anniversary in February. She has been an active member of First United Methodist Church, working in the Lay Renewal Movement and small group movement with youth for more than twenty years, the Friendship Class and the church hospital visitation team for a number of years. Jane and Harold recently received the Francis Asbury award. She was also a long-time member of the Junior League of Lubbock and the Lubbock Women’s Club. Survivors include her husband, Harold, a son, Trent, and wife Pam of Highland Village, Tx., a daughter, Connie Bartley, and husband Ray of Dallas; five grandchildren, Chris & Jennifer Zemler of Highland Village, Tx., Pete & Brooke Collins of Glenview, IL; Trevor & Jennifer Adams of Lewisville, David & Kristen Laughlin of Dallas, Dr. Scott & Val Bartley of Heath, Tx., and seven great grandchildren.
