Obituary:
Juanita Kring passed away January 14, 2010 at the VistaCare Hospice In-Patient Unit at Carillon House. Juanita was born July 14, 1918 in Mt. Selman, Texas to John and Hattie Ayers. She was the youngest of five sisters and one brother. She is survived by one sister, Bennie Stokes of Ennis and two children and their spouses, Gail Kring and wife Mary Ann and Kay Kring Key and husband Chuck all of Lubbock. She is also survived by six grandchildren, David Key of Chesterfield, Missouri, Jerrell Key of Gruver, Karen Kring Wagner of Broken Arrow, OK, Tommy Kring of Dallas, Scott Kring of Richardson and Amy Kring Barrett of Spring; 12 great-grandchildren, a niece Luan Campbell of Dallas and a nephew, Walt Stokes of Ennis. Upon the death of her mother, Juanita was reared by her oldest sister and brother-in-law, C.L. and Dot McCaw of Ennis. She graduated from Ennis High School and moved to Houston where she met and married M.W. “Buddy” Kring in 1937. The family moved to Abilene in 1950 where they made their home until 1995. While in Abilene, Juanita was employed by the Abilene City Tax Office and the Taylor County Central Appraisal District. Later, she and Buddy were the owners of the Buster Brown Shoe Store in the Mall of Abilene. Buddy and Juanita were members if First Baptist Church, Abilene Country Club, Abilene High Booster Club and numerous bridge and dance clubs. Upon Buddy’s death, Juanita moved to Lubbock to be close to her children. Juanita will be remembered by her family and friends for her happy disposition, energetic spirit and her generosity to all her loved ones. The family wishes to thank Dale and Grace Abesamis of Bethany House, Shawnee Cota of Shawnee’s Personal Home Care and VistaCare Hospice for their loving attention during her lengthy illness. They would also like to thank Dick and Rosalind Moser and Reverend John Ballard for their faithful visits.
