Wanda was born on November 12, 1932 to James and Nettie Evans Henson at McCauley, Texas. On November 14, 1947 she married G. K. “Buddy” Mitchell in Lubbock and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2008.
After their retirement, they cared for children in their home for several cherished families. She was also very devoted to her family.
She was preceded in death by parents, two brothers, one sister, and one grandson, Kenny Mitchell IV.
Wanda is survived by her daughters, Sherry Seymour and husband, Mickey of Lubbock, Alana Gaines and husband, Mike of Bulverde; sons, Ken Mitchell and wife, Bridget of Lubbock, and Brandy Mitchell and Leslie Jones of Wolfforth; sisters, Laudis Beavers of Lubbock, and JoAnn Flake and husband Ashley of Lubbock; grandchildren, Brent Seymour, Quent (George) Mitchell, Landon Hardmon, Heather Miller, Brittne Carson, Andrea Hines, and September Anne Mitchell; nine great-grandchildren.
