Our beloved Eddie Leon Sheppard went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 22, 2009 in Lubbock. Graveside services will be held on today, November 25, p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson, Texas under the direction of Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers of Lubbock.
Eddie was born on September 19, 1923 to Eddie and Anna Fitzgerald Sheppard in Long Beach, CA. Served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific, following his service during the war he served as a Chief Petty Officer and retired from the United States Navy in 1965. While employed with the United State Navy he attended the University of Maryland. He married Ada Herndon on July 2, 1973 in Anson, Texas and she preceded him in death February 12, 2009. .Eddie then became a high school ROTC instructor. Eddie was a member of the Woodlawn Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he served as and elder.
Eddie is survived by son, Eddie Michael Sheppard of San Francisco, CA; brothers, Glen and Nelson Sheppard both of East Texas; sister, Sybil Kinder of Midland; sister-in-laws, Mary Ella Cox of Lubbock, Florene Herndon of Abilene, and Patsy Fletcher of Fort Worth; numerous nephews and nieces.
