Obituary:
Thomas was born March 6, 1930, in Baytown, Texas, to the late Robert Emmett and Vera Mae (Thomas) Moak. After graduation from high school he attended the University of Houston where he played football. He left school and entered the US Navy and served our country before returning to college where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics. After graduation, he married Gayle Knight on June 17, 1960, in Houston. He worked for General Electric at NASA in Houston and also in Lynchburg, VA. After his retirement in 1984 from GE, Thomas taught at T.S.T.C. in Waco until 1997. Thomas and Gayle moved to Lubbock in 2008 to be closer to family. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Waco for 25 years. Thomas is survived by his wife, Gayle; son, Robert Moak and wife Lisa of Richmond, VA,; daughter, Laura James and husband Kent of Lubbock; grandchildren, Elyzabeth Moak, Austin James, Avery James, Kathryn Tarnai and Brian Tarnai; a brother, Charles Ed Moak and wife Mary Beth of Baytown; and brother-in-law Jim Knight and wife Shirley of Georgetown. Along with his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Kenneth Moak and a sister, Mary Louise Portis.
