James was born on July 16, 1935 to Wilburn and Nadine Pitman Chambers.
He graduated from Ropes High School in 1953 and began his lifetime career as a farmer.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ropesville.
He was a good steward of the lands entrusted him, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a true and loyal friend and he truly, enjoyed travelling the back roads and truly, truly loved a good horse race.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Patterson Chambers and by his son, Kenneth Chambers with whom he farmed and raced horses for many years.
He is survived by a son, Charles of Lubbock, Lanann Dempsey of Lubbock, daughter in law, Rene Chambers of Ropesville, the lights of his life, his two grandchildren, Kit and Karli of Ropesville, his loving companion and travelling partner Lavoy arrant of Castroville and many dear friends.
