Brooks was born to Kenneth Dale and Zuella Wheeler on January 23, 1956 in Ralls, Texas. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1974 and married Bobbie Susan Lamb on February 12, 1977 in Lubbock, Texas. Until his illness forced his retirement, he was employed for 22 years with Kennedy MFG. of Dallas, TX.
Brooks loved the outdoors and was an avid and talented fisherman participating in many fishing tournaments. He loved the renaissance period and frequently participated in renaissance festivals with his wife and family. Brooks loved working with his hands which showed in his work as well as his hobbies. He was very proud of his Native American heritage which showed in his love and devotion to his family and his love of nature.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Wheeler; son, Stephen B. Wheeler and his wife, Elisa of Mesquite; grandchildren, Mason B. Wheeler and Kassy Funes; mother, Zuella Kemp and husband Mack of Lubbock; father, Kenneth D. Wheeler and wife Mary of Brady, TX; sisters, Terri Diane Wheeler of Lubbock and Rebecca Ann Sanders of Lubbock; grandmother, Edith Gray of Ralls and a large family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
