She was born August 24th, 1923 to George & Minnie Kenney in Whitewright, Texas. On December 28th, 1947, she married L.M. Powell Jr. in Crosbyton, Texas. They made their home in the Ralls community until 1979 when L.M. died.
Dorothy moved to Lubbock in 1980, where she continued to be a homemaker & spent most of her time gardening & helping take care of her children & grandchildren. Dorothy was an active member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by: Her daughter Norma Edwards & husband Wesley. Two grandchildren: Michael Edwards & wife Jennifer, & Aimee Runnels and husband Jeff. Eight great-grandchildren: Emily, Luke & Logan Edwards, Avery Dickson, Ransom & Kenzlee Runnels, & Tabitha & Ben Carey. All survivors reside in Lubbock.
