Roddy was born on December 10, 1932 to Glen and Iva Marie (Gilreath) Stargel in Memphis, TX and graduated from Memphis High School. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics. Following graduation from Texas Tech he served in the US Air Force. On September 11, 1954 he married Norma Mitchell in Memphis, Texas. Roddy was a Mortgage Banker at First Federal Savings, followed by Plains Capital Bank until his retirement. He was a member of the Homebuilder’s Association and the Mortgage Bankers Association. He was an avid golfer, and especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and attending their activities. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Suzy Stargel-Todd. Roddy is survived by his loving wife, Norma Stargel; a son, Mitch Stargel and wife Teal of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Reid Stargel of Lubbock, Emily Todd and Shane Todd of Lamesa; their father, Bud Todd and wife Kathleen also of Lamesa; a sister, Sara Ann Moss and husband James of Memphis and numerous nephews and nieces.
