Friends and family of Irene Guerra Loya will gather to celebrate her life at 10 a.m. Monday, November 29, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Reverend Peter D'Souza will lead family and friends in reciting the Rosary at 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, at Lake Ridge Chapel. Mrs. Loya died November 24, 2010.Irene was born on April 25 to Blas and Stella Guerra in Lamesa, Texas. She graduated from Lamesa High School and attended South Plains College. Irene retired from Dillard's in May of 2008, where she was a sales person in the lingerie department for eight years.Irene's first love was family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, reading and loved to dance. Although she didn't belong to a civic service organization, she donated her time and shared her talents generously with the community and was always there to help anyone in need. She befriended many and was loved by all. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of faith, love and family. Survivors include her two daughters, Annette Alonzo and husband Charlie and Yvette Hinojosa and husband Andy; her son, Michael Loya and wife, Monica; grandchildren, Leslie, Lauren, and Kaitlyn Alonzo, Jacob and Haleigh Hinojosa, Justice and Jenna Loya; siblings, Edward Guerra, Mary Castro, and Beatrice Sanchez.She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Blas Guerra Jr. We invite you to visit www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave words of comfort for the family.
