“Edith Cooper Simmons passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the age of 102. A tribute of Edith’s life may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for her family.
Edith was born on October 27, 1913 to John and Minnie Kennedy Cooper in Garrets Bluff, Texas. She graduated from Paris High School and then, Paris Junior College. She was a teacher, then the credit manager for Skibell’s dress shops for 30 years. She retired at the age of 71. She was able, as she had always hoped, to live independently in her own home until her death.
Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Abbott, and husband, David; grandchildren, Mari Box, and husband, Terry; Debbie Guerra and husband, Jorge; Cory Shaw; Susan Edwards and husband, Ron; Mark Abbott and wife, Linda; Eric Simmons; 9 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jeanie Stafford; son, Larry Simmons; and granddaughter, Lisa Simmons.
This spring, she will be laid to rest in Garretts Bluff Cemetary, just a mile from where she and her twin sister were born.”
