Don Floyd Willis entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 20, 2016, in Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 90. Don was born at home on October 24, 1925, in Girard, Texas to Thomas Clayton Willis and Mayme Olivia Allen. Don helped with the family farm until he joined the U.S. Army. After serving in the WWII European Theater as an Airborne Infantryman, he returned to Petersburg, Texas. In 1950, he married Charlie Jo Williams in Whiteface, Texas. He spent the early years of their marriage farming and later worked in agricultural sales and service for A.O. Smith Harvestore, and Rome Plow Company. Don retired in 1995. He and Jo lived at Lake Brownwood where they enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. Don and Jo settled in Lubbock in 2003 where Don gardened and participated in ministry opportunities at My Father’s House and Second Baptist Church. After Jo died in 2015, Don moved to an independent living facility near his family in Oklahoma City.Don was preceded in death by his wife, Charlie Jo, and his daughter, Glenna Gay Schroeder, along with five siblings, James Willis, Lois Throckmorton, Bonnie Stanley, Mary Morgenthaler, and Tressie Hagins. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sherry Colette Davis and husband, Danny, of Bellville, and Donna Phillips and husband, Rod, of Oklahoma City, and son-in-law, Jim Schroeder, of Hempstead; six grandchildren, Clay and Ryan Schroeder, Justin and Lindsay Davis, and Jarod and Todd Phillips; eight great-grandchildren; and one sibling, Ruth Willis.
