C. Wayne Smith

Wayne was born 11-22-32 in Laneville, Texas, to Charles and Ruby Smith. He married Eileen Long on 11-22-56. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Loyd Smith. Wayne is survived by his wife, Eileen; a son, Steven Smith, and his wife, Terri; 2 daughters, Paula Purselley, and husband, Johnny, and Pamela Smith; 4 grandchildren, Sydney and Andrew Smith and Justin and Jude Purselley; and a sister, Ruth Springer. Wayne graduated from Texas Tech University in 1954 with a degree in Business Administration. He was manager for the Tech basketball team for 2 years. He began his career in public accounting and practiced for 13 years. From 1969 to 1972, he was controller and treasurer for TIME-DC. From 1973 to 1992, Wayne was Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Furr’s Cafeterias. After retiring from Furr’s , he was controller for Gebo’s for 8 years.
