Ann was born on September 9, 1937 to the late Jacob and Alta (Cocanougher) Turner in Idalou and graduated from Idalou High School. She married Billy Benson on June 29, 1974 in Idalou. In 1976, they moved from Lubbock to Seminole and Ann worked for the Lamesa Credit Union. They returned to Lubbock in Aug. 1990. Ann worked for First Federal Savings and Loan and then Lubbock National Bank. She was a member of the Open Heart Club, where she served as president, the First Baptist Church and the Downtown Bible Class. Ann enjoyed working with numbers, always keeping up with the stock market and current money matters, and keeping her home in pristine condition.Ann is survived by her son, Jim Perry Steele and wife Nathalie “Sparky” of Madisonville, KY; three grandchildren, Amy Wall and husband Benson of Hobbs, NM, Todd Steele and wife Joy of Villa Ridge, Ill, and Kris Steele of Lovington, NM; two great-grandsons, Barrett and Ryker Wall and a sister, Carolyn (Wilmer) Strader of Olney.We would like to thank everyone at Home Instead for the care and love given to Ann.Memorials are suggested to the South Plains Food Bank, 4610 Locust Ave., Lubbock, Texas 79404.
