Robert Lee Stranathan passed away peacefully in his Lubbock home on November 13, 2015. He was 86. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Florence Stranathan, wife, LaDonna Stranathan, Sister Celia Merritt, and nephew Robert Merritt. He was born in Enid, Oklahoma on November 7, 1929. He received his bachelor’s degree from Bethany Nazarene College and his Master’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University. Bob was a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, retiring from the rank of Chief Master Sargent. He was Special Agent with the USAF Office of Special Investigation (OSI) and was stationed in Germany for multiple tours. After USAF retirement he became a teacher in Clovis, NM school system and retired from teaching after 16 years. He and LaDonna moved to Lubbock in 1998. Bob is survived by his son Lee Stranathan (Karen) of Houston, daughter Cathy Crain (Earl) of Lubbock, his sister Sue Newell (Bill) of Edmond, OK, and by 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A private Interment with full military honors is to be followed at a later date at Arlington (TX) National Cemetery.
